Day 1: Reach
#Yuksom; 6-8 hours drive from NJP
• Altitude: 5700 ft
• 150 km drive, approx 8 hours.
• Pick up at 10am NJP railway station (Travel cost included at our package)
• Pass through the Police Check post at Melli. Foreigners need Inner line permit (ILP)
• Lunch Break at Jorethang
• Last ATM at Legship
• Base camp at Yuksom, overnight stay at Guest house.
• As per the Sikkim government, foreigners (OCI, NRI) need to obtain a special permit to trek in Sikkim. This permit is issued in Gangtok and so you need to come one day before at Yuksom. This process requires your signed ILP, therefore the process needs you to be present there. The charges of Obtaining the permit is Rs. 2000 per person. do not include these charges in the package our representative will cooperate to obtain the permit. In addition make a note that your expenses for the additional day are not included in the package.
• Citizens of China, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Pakistan are not allowed to trek in Sikkim.
Day 2: Yuksom (5,643 ft) to Sachen (7130 ft); 5 hours, 6.7 kms
On the first day, you will cross three suspension bridges hanging over deep gordes. River Prekchu flows through these gorges.
Day 3: Sachen (7130 ft) to Tshoka (9,701 ft); 4 hours, 5 kms
On this day you have a steep climb to Bakhim from the 4th suspension bridge and then to Tsokha. From there you get a great view of Peiling village.
Day 4: Tshoka (9,701 ft) to Dzongri (13,024 ft) via Phedang (12,083 ft); 7 hours, 6.3 kms
Till Phedang you trek through the forest. This is the blooming rhododendron belt in spring. After Phedang, the trees give way to mountain views and you get the first glimpse of Mt. Pandim and Mt Tinchenkang.
Day 5: Acclimatisation Day. Dzongri (13,024 ft) to Dzongri top (13,778 ft) and back to Dzongri; 3 hours 1.8 kms ups and downs
Today is the acclimatisation day. Pay attention to your body and stay alert for any symptoms of AMS. It’s also a good time to go for an excursion to Dzongri Top. So this early in the morning, when the sun is rising to catch some spectacular morning views of Mt. Kanchenjunga.
Day 6: Dzongri (13,024 ft) to Thansing (12,946) ft via Kockchurang (12,152 ft); 6 hours, 6.4 kms
Today you will descend through the alpine meadows and rhododendron forest to reach Kokchurang, where you will be at the level of River Prek, It will gurgle alongside and under a wooden bridge. From there you start ascending again and reach Thansing, the expansive and stark meadow.
Day 7: Trek from Thansing (12,930 ft) – Lamuney (13,700 ft) (2 hrs)
Leisure Day, Short Excursion
Waking up in the morning, you can either spend the day relaxing in the camp or just take up a short exploration quest around the camp. The day is much required as you must get acclimated to the higher altitudes before gaining further height; overnight stay in camps.
Day 8: Trek from Lamuney (13,700 ft) – Goechala (16,207 ft) and back to Kokchurung(12,100 ft) / Tshoka(9650ft) (10-12 hrs)
Samiti Lake, Zemathang Plateau, Goecha La Pass
Start the day early in order to avoid the harsh climatic conditions that might hinder your course in the latter part of the day. Climbing uphill through the moraines, you will then be descending to the Samiti Lake and then cross the Zemathang Plateau. From here, you will once again start ascending over a moraine and after trekking for around 1 hour, will reach the Goecha La Pass. Arriving at this magnificent pass, behold the magical views of the Kanchenjunga and other distant peaks before you start moving back towards kokchurang for an overnight stay camp.
Day 9: Trek from Tshoka (9,650 ft) / Kokchurung (12100ft) – Yuksom (5,800 ft) via Bakhim (8,600 ft) and Sachen (7,200 ft) (6 hrs)
5-6 Hours Trek, Prek Chu River, Trekking Ends Here
Today, descending through the Prek Chu River, you will be arriving in Yuksom, the last leg of this astounding tour. Arriving in the vicinity, check-in into a local hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 10: Day 10 – Departure from Yuksom
